2005 Review for: The Prison of the Dead:

 

First things first, this place REALLY impressed me! The attention to detail is something you only see at Disney or Universal. When you're walking through the Prison of the Dead, every room and passageway is highly detailed and authentic. There's no black plastic or sheets hanging down or cheesy props. This place was built from the ground-up with detail in mind.

 

You begin your tour of "The Willow Glen State Penitentiary" onboard a prison tour bus which drops you off at the prison. A tour greeter welcomes you off the bus and explains some of the history of the place. Then you move into a holding area where a documentary video entertains you while you wait to go inside.

 

Once inside, your tour quickly derails and you realize chances of getting out of here alive are slim to none. You go from the processing room to interrogation while ghoulish prison guards bark orders at you. A VERY CREEPY nurse welcomes you in the infirmary and a ghostly spirit prisoner appears out of nowhere in the shower room. A quick exit through the boiler room and secret ventilation shaft leads you outside, but the only way off the prison compound is through the cell block building.

 

The 2-story cell block is extremely impressive and you actually experience it on both stories. A ceiling collapse has blocked your exit so you must sneak through holes in the cell block walls. Your only chance to escape is through the sewer pipes!

 

OMG the sewer pipes! Yes, sewer pipes, and ALOT of them! You actually walk (or run) through underground sewer and drainage pipes trying to escape from the prison compound! It is intense to say the least.

 

Finally you make it outside again for a much-needed breather, but look out because the prison guards are on to you now and if they catch you, it's off to the execution chambers.

 

I won't ruin the ending for you, it's awesome. Needless to say, you will never experience another Halloween attraction like this one!
